TropicalClinics Annual Medical Camp 2008
As the founder of TropicalClinics, an organization offering healthcare centers in Kenya and other parts of Africa, I have seen first hand the devastation caused by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Over 6,000 people die from AIDS related illnesses every day. TropicalClinics is making an effort to combat this deadly disease by offering medical care to women and children affected by the virus. We have launched a $950,000 capital campaign, "Build a Healing Foundation", for a new clinic to be built in Kakamega, Kenya. The Kakamega health center is slated for full operation in 2010 and will house a state-of-the-art diagnostic lab with an Ultrasound, MRI and Dialysis machine. The health center will serve over 400 patients each day.
In the interim, we are continuing to conduct annual medical camps that serve over 800 people per day for two to three days. During the annual ambulatory clinics patients presenting with malaria, fever, HIV infection, pregnancy, fungal infections, eye and dental problems are treated. We have treated over 4,000 people, mostly children and women since 2005. See some of our medical camp work through these pictures.
